스타일지음은 박지선과 신수정, 두 디렉터가 이끄는 플랜트 디자인 스튜디오로, 공간의 맥락에 따라 꽃과 식물을 중심에 둔 스타일링부터 조형물 제작, 조경 디자인에 이르기까지 폭넓은 창작 활동을 펼치고 있다. 그중에서도 다양한 꽃, 열매, 줄기, 잎을 활용해 계절의 아름다움을 유리병에 담아낸 프리저브드 오브제는 스타일지음을 대표하는 조형 작업이다. 이번 전시에서 스타일지음은 아세안 10개국을 대표하는 열대 과일에 대한 리서치에서 출발해, 과육, 씨앗, 껍질, 잎 등 각 요소들이 지닌 형태적 특성을 해체하고 재배치하는 과정을 통해, 이를 고체 상태로 봉인한 작업을 선보인다.
‘하바리움’(Herbarium)이라 불리는 이 기법은 생물 상태의 꽃과 열매를 마치 아쿠아리움처럼 투명한 용기 속에 가두어 보존하는 방식으로, 생명이 지닌 고유의 생동감은 물론 그 안에 담긴 문화적 상징성과 전시의 시간을 하나의 소우주로 응축해낸다. 익숙한 과일을 일종의 ‘유물’로 변환함으로써, 우리가 일상적으로 향유하고 소비하는 자연의 아름다움과 생명의 다양성이 지닌 의미를 다시금 환기시킨다.

Commissioned for the opening exhibition of the Seoul ASEAN Hall
Stylejieum is a plant design studio led by directors Jiseon Park and Sujeong Lee. The studio engages in a wide spectrum of creative practices—from floral and botanical styling tailored to the context of a space, to the production of sculptural objects and landscape design. Among their representative works are preserved objects that encapsulate the beauty of the seasons within glass vessels, using a diverse array of flowers, fruits, stems, and leaves. For this exhibition, Stylejieum begins with research into tropical fruits representative of the ten ASEAN countries. By deconstructing and rearranging the morphological characteristics of each part—such as the flesh, seeds, peels, and leaves—they present works in which these elements are sealed in solid form.
This method, known as herbarium, preserves living flowers and fruits in transparent containers that resemble miniature aquariums. In doing so, it condenses not only the innate vitality of life, but also its embedded cultural symbolism and the temporality of the exhibition into a single microcosm. By transforming familiar fruits into a kind of “artifact,” the work invites viewers to reconsider the meaning of the natural beauty and biodiversity we routinely enjoy and consume in everyday life.
